Dear Friend,
The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recently reported that new HIV infection rates nationwide are 40 percent higher than previously thought.
This troubling news highlights the vital importance of AIDS Project Los Angeles' HIV prevention and education efforts.
I'm pleased to tell you about an exciting opportunity to have your gift to APLA matched dollar for dollar in support of our youth HIV prevention program, Mpowerment.

Mpowerment offers gay, bisexual and questioning youth a safe space to talk about issues and learn how to stay healthy.
Recently, two dedicated APLA donors challenged us to raise $15,000 from our supporters to help fund this vital program. They pledged to match every donation through December 24, 2008, totaling $30,000 for APLA and Mpowerment.
As the need for APLA services continues to grow, funding for HIV/AIDS programs continues to shrink. And as you can imagine, these challenging economic times are hitting the people we serve the hardest. That's why I hope that this holiday season, you'll consider giving a special gift to APLA that will go twice as far.
Please help us to take advantage of this opportunity to strengthen this important HIV prevention program by making a generous gift today.
On behalf of each of the clients we serve, thank you.
With best wishes for the holidays,
Craig E. Thompson
Executive Director
