Mr. Oliver Drakeford
I’ve been set with the overwhelming task of running the Sydney marathon and raising $10,000 this summer for AIDS Project Los Angeles, a local non profit company that helps people living with HIV/AIDS. This will be the fifth marathon I’m running for with Team To End AIDS, the endurance training program that helps get me ready to run – I’m asking everyone I know to give up just five dollars, (one for each marathon I've run) and donate it to this awesome cause. By sacrificing the small cost of a venti Starbucks this week, you’re helping my favorite charity make some big changes.
I’ve become really fond of APLA and wanted to explain what it is that you’re doing by making a donation:
1) You’re standing up against the prejudice and social stigma around HIV/AIDS. This is a disease that does not discriminate against gender, race or sexuality, but is still surrounded in prejudice and discrimination.
2) You’re helping get basic supplies such as groceries and medicine to people who are living in poverty with HIV/AIDS. APLA funds food pantries such as the Vance North Necessities of Life’ pantry, and the APLA Dental Services group
3) You’re funding APLA Health & Wellness Centers that are opening all over Los Angeles to provide education, testing and medical advice - APLA has over 11,000 clients in Los Angeles alone
4) $500 provides 10 HIV tests and 2 concealing sessions, $250 buys five oral exams and 3 teeth cleanings for APLA clients, and just $100 buys ten bags of groceries
The link to my donation page, is right over there ---> it’s fast and painless and totally tax deductible.
Thank you so much,
