Dear Friends,

Many of you have followed, and supported, the challenge I took last year training for and running the 2012 LA MARATHON.  I still cannot believe I made it to the end…  I can easily say that it was one of the most wonderful experiences of my life!

But what made it so special was not only to be able to run 26.2 miles, but the people I trained with (Roadkill, the best pace group EVER!!!) and the cause I raised funds for.  With your help I raised more than $4,500 for APLA (Aids Project Los Angeles), and with the help of T2 (Team To End AIDS), I was able to cross to the finish line at the Santa Monica Pier on March 18th, 2012.  A day I will remember for the rest of my life.

What also will be in my heart forever is the beauty of the many people I encountered during this journey.  Above everyone, my coach Scott Boliver, who unfortunately earlier this year lost his long battle with cancer.  A long and hard fight that started just a few days before we began the training.  But that didn’t keep him from helping us to reach our goal.  I have never met anyone with more passion, enthusiasm and love for life and others than him.  What I have learned from him has changed my life, like I know it has for many, many others he has touched, forever.

The fight against AIDS is far from over, and this year I decided to continue to help, celebrating my 50th birthday and 20 years in the States, by taking on another tremendous challenge.  In July I started training for the XTERRA Trail Running World Championship, and I hope you will support me, and help me to raise $5,000 for AIDS Project Los Angeles (APLA).

The XTERRA Trail Running World Championship is an off-road half-marathon being held on November 24, 2013 on the North Shore of Oahu in Hawaii.  Along with a fantastic group of Team To End AIDS (T2) participants, I'll be running 13.1 miles along trails, up hills, through mud, amid spectacular scenery in the area where "Jurassic Park" was filmed.  I’ll be training at least three days per week, because I want to do something that’s not only physically challenging for me, but also beneficial to APLA's clients.

Nearly 1.2 million Americans are now living with HIV, and 56,000 more will be infected this year!  For over 25 years, APLA has provided food, home health care, and other services to thousands of people whose lives are affected by HIV/AIDS.  Many of them are living in poverty and have nowhere to turn.

That’s why I’m asking you to help. Please join me in doing what we can to bring an end to HIV/AIDS. You can donate as little as $5 and or much as you like.

Please donate today by clicking on the button that says, "Donate Now". It's easy!  Help me reach my goal of raising at least $5,000 and make a difference in the life of an APLA client today.  Donations are put to use immediately — so please, donate today!

Thank you so much for caring, and thank you for your support.
